I'm a complicated bloke in an uncomplicated shell. Haven't been in a relationship in a while and am finding it almost impossible to meet people via the traditional methods (considering I work from home, my friendship group has become worryingly incestuous and I'm not really a fan of 'clubbing').
Right now I'm in a band which has just released a very well received album, I'm also in the midst of writing a novel. I pay the bills as a writer, primarily a music critic for a variety of websites and magazines but also (for my sins) am not adverse to the odd bit of mind numbingly dull copywriting work (guess which pays more?) and spend most of my free time either at the pub, writing music, off on random adventures or wasting time on movies, books and/or games (then again I'm with John Lennon, "time you enjoy wasting is not wasted"). Travelled extensively as part of a variety of bands (some good, some not so good) but only ever really saw the back of a van and a lot of dingy dressing rooms so I'm always up for a getaway to somewhere exotic... like Grimsby(sic).
I live for music really. I could write an essay on this but I'll just say I love anything inspiring, be it rock, hip-hop, electronica, jazz, soul... whatever. I have room in my heart for anything. Right now my time is divided between the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor record (possibly the best album of the decade thus far), the new Nick Cave album, early Miles Davis, Frank Ocean, Frank Zappa, noisy post-hardcore from Belgium (honestly) and a wonderful little group from Newcastle called Lanterns On The Lake. I wholeheartedly recommend all of them. Also if you've never heard 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley, do so right now because it's the most gorgeous thing you'll ever put between your ears.
To write anything else would surely be to give the game away so I'll just say this. If you're willing to put up with a kind hearted yet mildly neurotic bloke with a tendency to spontaneously burst into song, give me a bell. You (probably) won't regret it.
